Bora Bora—The Island:  The less glamorous map to the right shows the layout. Bora Bora was once an active volcano that collapsed leaving a ring around the cone. At one time the lagoon completely encircled the island separating it from the sea beyond. During World War II, the US Army cut a channel on the left (where there is a break in the white rim) to bring in fortifications to defend the Pacific from the Japanese. The hotels are located on the island and on the motus that encircle the island.

Bora Bora Lagoon Resort: This Orient-Express Hotel perfectly marries the luxurious Orient Express methodology with the beauty and majesty of Bora Bora. It is a destination in and of itself.  It sits on its on private isle, Motu Toopua in the middle of Bora Bora’s majestic lagoon and offers 76 pure style Polynesia style bungalows that pay homage to its beautiful natural setting. Room Service, nightly turn down, ice delivery, laundry and baby sitting service are provided for guest comfort as well as a concierge and activities desk. Your wish is their command. And your stay will not be complete without the a Motu Picnic—it a romantic and exotic experience unlike any other. You will be transported to a near by private ‘Motu” with soft, white-sand beaches. Bora Bora Nui:  Here luxury is taken to new heights. Upon arrival you are ushered into an overwater lobby with a glass floor. After checking in you cross a bridge to the main body of “heaven on earth” situated on a 600 meter white sugar sand beach—the longest white sand beach in Bora Bora. The negative edge pool is 1000 square meters and is also the largest pool in French Polynesia.  There are 120 Villas with 82 overwater villas and 2 Royal Villas. All Villas have the same layout. The different categories are based on view not layout. This resort is the second largest (behind the St. Regis) but the “bigness” does not preclude personal service.  In addition to the onsite concierge, they maintain a concierge in town to provide any “must have” item that is not available on the property. Here the guest reigns supreme. If you see yourself immersed in the lifestyle of the Rich and Famous, call me and you will be on your way.  Click Here for more information.

InterContinental Le Moana Resort: As this hotel points out, “if Bora Bora alone seems to embody paradise on earth, the IC Le Moana Resort Bora Bora is certainly one of its most beautiful symbols.” This property is located on Point Matira which is the best beach on Bora Bora. There are 62 individual bungalows, 12 beach bungalows and 48 overwater bungalows . All the bungalows are junior suite size in arrangement with a separate sitting area. The overwater bungalow glass top coffee table was designed by this property and made its first appearance in the world at the IC Le Moana. One Beach Suite and one Overwater Bungalow offer connecting rooms with only a deck separating them. Twenty years of age have not dimmed this beauty. The constantly upgraded and exceedingly well-maintained property on an incredible site makes for a bit of “heaven on earth”. Click Here for information. Click Here for a Video.
